President Trump stays the course on imposing 10-25% in tariffs on certain goods from China beginning January 1st, 2019. The tariffs are aimed at China due to the Administrations’s belief the country is engaging in unfair trade practices. According to the American Trucking Association (ATA) a 9.5% jump in the tonnage index in October is evidence that shippers are stockpiling goods now to lessen the impact of the tariffs come next year.
